Robert Harvey 1786- 1859
1786 Robert Harvey was baptised to William Harvey & Ann in Whitwell on 5/2/1786 - IGI . I think she was Anne Doughty, but Harvey tree in Garry's possession has her as Ann Newnham?? Anne Doughty had married William Harvey in 1780, Whitwell - FS
Robert had 7 siblings: Elizabeth 1781, Lucy 1782, William 1784, James 1787, Ann 1789, Louisa 1791, Henry 1795
1811. Robert Harvey married Elizabeth Cass/Cawes - cannot find the latter on IGI or FS, but there is a marriage to an Elizabeth Cass 1811 in Newchurch Hampshire- & there is a Newchurch parish only 5 miles NE of Whitwell in the Isle of Wight . Garry's tree has him marrying an Elizabeth Cawes- no doubt about this, and at least one Ancestry tree has Elizabeth Cawes as his wife .. She would have been born ~1790 and could thus have been a sister to the William Caws shown in 1841C- below- up near Cowes . Robert's wife Elizabeth is indeed given as born Newchurch in 1851C!!
Found on Rootsweb from an I of W researcher : " Other variations of CAWS are CAWES and CASS and I have occasionally found one person using all three variations"
Robert & Elizabeth Harvey had the following children baptised to them in Whitwell: William Henry 1811, Anne 1814, Caroline 1816, Martha 1818, Robert 1822, Charles & Louisa 1825 and Lucy Matilda 1831. - FS. They also seem to have children Maria 1828 & Edward 1834 . George 1840 is a grandchild . Thus not possible to obtain a b.c. to ascertain Elizabeth's maiden name!

A connection between the Harveys and the Caws/Cawes/Cass . Interestingly, there is a 2008 Rootsweb thread seemingly on this family and when Henry Payne Caws was baptised Cowes 1819 to William & Elizabeth, William was a carpenter . But another 2008 thread gives both Henry Payne and father William as butchers, which indeed they are in 1841, 1851 & 1861!
1851C Robert Harvey, 65, retired publican, b. Whitwell , is living Kemming, Whitwell , Isle of Wight with his wife, son Edward & George Harvey, a grandchild. Still a Kemming Road in Whitwell today.
